What are the UPPER, LOWER and PROPER functions used for in Excel 2007? A good example is when you have a person's full name in a cell and let's say it's all lower case, and you want to make it all upper case or proper in that the first letter of last and first name are in caps. This would be easy to simply retype it correctly; however, if you have hundreds or thousands of names like this then you'll probably want to use the UPPER function. This function will put all lower-case letters in upper-case and visa versa from all upper-case to lower-case, and of course proper. These functions would be inserted in a separate cell of course and point to the cell containing the text.
